Zone 2 Pilot Rollie Kuip has introduced his airstrip on the eastern edge of Riding Mountain National Park. It is scheduled to be published in the Canadian Flight Supplement as "Riding Mountain". Rollie thanks the help of CASARAMAN Zone 2 for supporting his initiative, construction and implementation with Transport Canada and NavCanada. The airstrip will provide greater confidence as a general alternate and in SAR operations, training and recovery.

The airstrip is based at his farm with the particulars (unconfirmed until published):

  • Riding Mountain Airstrip
  • Runway is 08/26
  • Grass, rising to the west, undulating with rises and dips
  • West end is altitude 1015 feet--east end 1,005 feet
  • 2,300' total length
  • 50.34.4  99.21.7
  • Night approach from the West for 08--available with reflectors and beacon with advance contact to Rollie at 204.967.2394
  • Sharp drop off West end of runway
